Why Are English Bulldogs Expensive?

Breeding healthy English Bulldogs is incredibly in depth and takes a large amount of work. For this breed, the financial investment in a healthy litter starts long before your puppy is even born. To ensure the highest quality and safety, my program includes vet checks prior to pregnancy with full blood work, specialized premium diets for the mother, multiple progesterone tests, premium stud fees when applicable, professional artificial insemination, ultrasounds to confirm pregnancy, reverse progesterone testing, c-sections, and post pregnancy vet checkups. These medical procedures are necessary for breeding English Bulldogs responsibly but also cost a small fortune in vet costs. These fees must all be paid before a single puppy is even listed for sale.
Once the puppies arrive, the real work begins. While momma is recovering from surgery, I step in to provide complete neonatal care. For the first two weeks, I carefully rotate nursing puppies, assist with elimination, and keep the nursery temperature perfectly controlled. The puppies require constant supervision to prevent accidents and catch any potential issues immediately. We sleep in shifts to ensure someone has eyes on the puppies every single second for at least the first two weeks of their lives. This around the clock dedication means we are physically present for every feeding and every breath to ensure each puppy is thriving and safe. When you invest in a properly bred bulldog, you are paying for this exhaustive level of attention and our total sleep deprived dedication to the life of your puppy. Most ethical breeders, myself included, are not turning much of a profit. It is entirely about bettering a breed that I deeply love. I believe that better through breeding we can give the wrinkled lazy couch potatoes that everyone loves a better quality of life, dogs who can breathe properly, aren't allergic to tap water, and don't require frequent expensive vet trips.

How does an Ethical Breeder Save You Money

A cheap bulldog might seem like a great deal at first, but poorly bred puppies usually come with a lifetime of devastating vet bills. Large breeders often focus on creating as many puppies as possible as quickly as possible, which is how they sell them for less. Irresponsible breeders rarely consider the overall health, well being, or bloodlines of the puppies they produce. Their females are often bred too young and too often, resulting in puppies that are born smaller and weaker. They are rarely fed high quality food, and all of this combined means those dogs start life at a severe disadvantage. They might begin with compromised airways, or develop severe allergies, joint problems, skin issues, and other health issues that poorly bred bulldogs are known for. Vet bills get expensive very quickly, and it is simply not a good quality of life for a dog you love. I invest significantly more into my dogs and into each litter, which means I have far fewer puppies. I focus strictly on quality over quantity. By choosing elite level care upfront, you save yourself thousands in the long run and prevent unnecessary heartbreak for your household.

Why Do English Bulldogs Have A Reputation For Being Unhealthy?

Careless and irresponsible breeding accounts for the majority of these health issues. English Bulldogs are incredibly popular, and sadly, some breeders see them as nothing more than a quick payday. Mass producing puppies leads to disastrous health consequences. Many irresponsible breeders completely ignore proper pairings and healthy bloodlines, while others focus solely on extreme physical looks instead of the overall health of the dog. These reckless practices produce puppies with compromised airways, severe allergies, skin problems, and other heartbreaking issues. My goal is to better the breed, not my bank account. I meticulously pair my dogs to ensure clear airways, excellent mobility, and robust health.
Some health issues can also be impacted by owners who do not fully understand the ongoing needs of their dogs. English Bulldogs require high quality food, regular bathing, daily wrinkle care, and supportive beds that ease the pressure on their heavy joints. When you combine my well bred English Bulldog with your dedication as a responsible owner, your dog can live a long, healthy, and happy life.

What Does Ethical Limited Breeding Mean?

I take my breeding responsibilities very seriously. We are not a puppy factory. We are a household that prioritizes the health, structure, and happiness of our dogs above all else. Ethical breeding means raising my dogs from puppies and heavily investing in their daily care, premium nutrition, and routine veterinary needs long before breeding is ever a thought. I do not consider breeding a female until she is at least two years of age, and only if she is in peak physical condition and temperamentally ready for motherhood.
When I plan a litter, I meticulously select only high end studs who meet my strict standards for health, structure, and pedigree. My females are only bred every 18 months or longer to ensure they have enough time to completely rest and recover. Depending on that recovery, my girls will only have a maximum of two or three litters in their entire lifetime. If a dog develops any health issues or does not meet my rigorous breeding standards, they are promptly spayed or neutered and live out their lives spoiled as my beloved companions. I actually have several dogs living with me who do not participate in my breeding program at all. Limited litters mean you are getting quality, exclusivity, and my profound respect for the dogs over mass production.

Should You Rescue Or Buy an English Bulldog?

Rescuing a dog is a noble and admirable thing to do. Whether you are adopting from a shelter or helping someone rehome their pet, it is a beautiful way to add to your household while giving a dog a second chance at a better life. While everyone wants every dog to find a loving home, the rescue process can be unpredictable and often comes with unforeseen problems. Many times you will not receive an accurate history regarding the health, temperament, or behavior of the dog.
These are often the three major reasons people choose to surrender or rehome their pets. Considering the high cost of an English Bulldog, even a mass produced one, people rarely wake up one day and simply decide they no longer want their dog. Sadly, if a dog develops expensive health issues, shows aggression toward other pets, or has behavioral problems like destructive chewing and housebreaking issues, some owners choose to get rid of the problem rather than investing in proper training and discipline.
With English Bulldogs specifically, health problems are a massive concern. In a rescue situation, you will not fully know the background or health history of the animal. If a potentially reduced life expectancy and the stress of significant vet costs are things you are prepared to handle, then rescuing is a great option for you. However, for many people, that level of uncertainty is not a risk they are willing to take. For those homes, buying a well bred puppy with a known history and a focus on health is a much better option.

The Advantages Of Microchips

Every single one of my English Bulldog puppies goes home with a microchip already implanted. I will provide you with your new puppy's unique microchip number, but you will still need to register the chip to associate it with your personal information. There are several websites that provide this registration service, but I highly prefer AKC Reunite for their low price and outstanding reputation.
Microchips are absolutely invaluable if your dog is ever lost or stolen. Sadly, many city run shelters in Texas are so overpopulated that they have no choice but to adopt high kill practices, meaning a microchip can literally save your dog's life. We have all seen social media posts where someone finds a dog and tries to give it away or sell it the very next day without ever looking for the owner. Because English Bulldogs are so popular, a lost dog could end up in a different city within days, or fall into the hands of an animal flipper. Since every vet, shelter, and rescue has the ability to scan that chip and instantly access your contact details, you are far more likely to get your baby back home safely to you.

Our Payment Policy

to reserve one of my exclusive puppies, I require a non refundable deposit. This deposit goes directly toward the final purchase price of your puppy. For your convenience, I accept Cash, Credit Cards, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, and PayPal. The remaining balance for your puppy is due in full at the time of delivery. Please note that if you require extended delivery services outside of my local radius, such as further driving distances or a professional flight nanny, those specific travel costs must be paid upfront in full before any travel arrangements are finalized.

Our Delivery Policy

I want getting your new puppy to be entirely stress free for you. Located in rural North East Texas, I offer safe and easy delivery inside of Texas within 100 miles of 75472. This includes many local areas such as Dallas, Fort Worth and the surrounding metroplex, Arlington, Plano, McKinney, Greenville, Sulphur Springs, Canton, and Tyler. If you require delivery that is within a six hour driving time, you will be charged for the price of gas to make the trip plus a 100 dollar surcharge. If the driving distance is between six and ten hours, you will be charged the cost of gas plus a 200 dollar surcharge. For distances further than ten hours that are still driveable within two days, you will be charged the cost of gas plus a 200 dollar surcharge per day.
If the distance is further and it is a better option for the puppy to fly, we have specific procedures in place. If our schedule allows, we will take your puppy in the cabin and fly them to you ourselves. In the event our schedule cannot accommodate the trip, we will use a licensed professional flight nanny. Puppies always travel in the cabin for their safety and comfort. These travel costs need to be paid upfront. If any unforeseen costs arise during transit, we assume responsibility for those. We are transparent and upfront about our delivery costs so there are never any surprise extra charges for your wallet. Since I live in a secluded rural area, we do not typically encourage puppy pick ups at our home. It can also be very difficult for our protective Mommas to have strangers near their pups (especially if reserving early) and their wellbeing is my priority. I will gladly facetime or make videos for you if you would like to see how our dogs live, where your puppy starts their life or to pick the right baby. I prefer to meet in a public location which is safer for both myself, my dogs and you.

What to Expect When Bringing Puppy Home

Bringing home your premium English Bulldog is an incredibly exciting time and I am here to make the transition as seamless as possible for you. Along with your puppy you will receive a health record with vaccines and deworming information, documentation from the vet check stating if there are any known issues, microchip information, AKC paperwork, a limited health guarantee, a sales contract, and enough of their food to transition to the food of your choice.
Once your puppy is home with you, it is normal for there to be an adjustment period and some separation anxiety. Your pup has been with their siblings since before birth and being in a new place without them can be overwhelming. I will also send a small blanket that smells familiar to help ease this anxiety. My best advice is to keep your environment as calm as possible. Keep your puppy in a small section of your home so that they familiarize themselves with you and the sounds of your life without also feeling lost in a big area.
I start litter box training with the puppies for my own sanity and if this is something that you are interested in continuing I will explain exactly how I have been doing it. Most importantly, remember that my commitment to you does not end on delivery day. When you take home one of my dogs, you become part of an extended circle of owners and I am always just a message away for lifelong support and guidance.
